Kevin Sullivan is arguably the best 1500-metre /mile runners in Canadian track and field history. He heads to the Olympics on a roll. This summer he broke Canadian records in the 1,500 with a 3:31.71 at a Grand Prix meet in Rome June 30 and a month later set the national mark for the mile in 3:50.26 at a meet in Norway.

  Still Sullivan would love nothing more than to display his talents on the biggest world stage this September. He missed the 1996 Olympic Games with an injury and is coming of a disappointing performance at last year's world championships.

  He made his first international mark at the 1992 world junior championships winning the bronze medal and was the world's second-ranked junior over 1,500 metres a year later. He spent his university years starring for the University of Michigan, winning the NCAA 1,500-metre title in 1995 and earning an engineering degree.

  He took a silver medal in the 1,500 at the 1994 Commonwealth Games and was fifth at the 1995 world championships. He missed most of 1996 with injuries.

  He was married in his hometown to Canadian national track team member Karen Harvey in August 1998. His brother Colin is one of the top Canadian junior 800-metre runners.
