Olympic soccer is coming to Canberra. Originally built as a venue for the 1977 Pan Pacific Games, Bruce Stadium is being re-developed to host preliminary rounds.
The cauldron-shaped stadium is set in native bushland next door to the Australian Institute of Sport. It has an intimate atmosphere and spectators are never more than 50 metres from the on-field action. New flip-up seating with increased leg room will add to spectator enjoyment.
A new three-mast roof over the east stand has increased undercover seating at the stadium to more than 4000. But if you'd rather have a closer view of the game (with more leg room), choose a seat in the inner bowl. Total seating capacity is 25,000.
The stadium is home to the ACT Brumbies in the Rugby Union Super 12 series and the Canberra Raiders in the National Rugby League competition. The stadium is also home to Australia's national women's soccer team.
